What do you see when you look at this photo? A paddle? The item in question is wooden, 15 inches long from handle to tip, has a comfortable grip, and even comes with a convenient leather loop. Oh, and for the record, it packs a really nasty sting. I know I’d certainly identify it as a paddle. But in fact it’s supposedly some sort of kitchen tool.
I’m not sure what it could possibly be used for other than spanking a naughty bottom, but this object was purchased by my husband at Le Gourmet Chef (my apologies to anyone out there whose spanker is now searching to acquire one of these evil things to add to their arsenal). I asked him what this thing was being sold as and he said he had no idea; it looked like a paddle to him, so he bought it. Sigh!
It’s a quarter inch thick and too narrow to be cutting board or bread board. It has beveled but not rounded edges so maybe it’s some sort of scraper? My spanko mind can’t see it as any useful kitchen tool other than a spanking toy. However, maybe you can help me out and determine what vanilla purpose it could serve. Of course in order to most accurately identify the object it would be best to examine it in person, so perhaps I should send it out to someone for proper inspection (and get it far, far away from my bottom … I did mention how this thing stings?). All in the name of science and research. I’m helpful like that.

Because it’s beveled, I think it could be used to spread icing/frosting on fancy wedding cakes or similar things. Imagine glopping (glopping?) the icing on, and then fine-tuning it with the edge.

I had one of those for years, brought it back from Japan.
Was used there to remove small baked goods from an oven.
And yes, it does produce a burning sting and can give that bright red bottom and hot warm feeling that lasts a long time and turns into the (what I call) pin cushon effect where you feel hundreds of tinys pins tingling your bottom.
All and all a very satisfactory result for both top and bottom that does not cause physical dammage even with long sound spankings.

Your husbands new little to is commonly refered to as a “Butter Paddle” it was originally used with the old fashioned butter churner when people would make there own butter, but could be used for a variety of kitchen chores.Seems like us spankos can always find another use for them tho, he he

It probably has different names but it is sometimes called an “Oven Shovel” and it can even be found on occasion at a 99 cent (also called various names such as a “Dollar Store”) store, especially here in the South. It us used to remove smaller items from a hot oven and is simular to Pizza Shovel used in a Pizza restaraunt but is smaller.

Another item I can not look at without thinking ‘spanking” (other than a pretty girl in tight jeans) are some of the bar room beer tap handles. Many are made of wood and are either round or square with a nice lenght handle and plenty enough thick to “make a point” when a lady is sunny side up over ones knee. They unscrew easily. I have seen some that are so perfectly shaped for spanking that (after a few beers) I have often considered asking a pretty barmaid if she would like me to try it out on her seat (or her on me), or offer to buy it.
Paddling goes way back in the USA, if you research “horn books” that were used in early American schools you will find that they were frequently used to “teach more than one kind of lesson”, both at school and at home. It must have been a “joy” for school children of the day to carry to and from school a paddle that had the Lords Prayer, the alphabet and multiplication tables on one side, which left the other side for your butt.

It appears to be that butter paddle or butter hand is what it is. Although, I suspect this is just a design used for kitchen decoration given the finish and lost art of butter shaping. You got off lucky as butter hands tend to come in pairs and have ridges.
I thought it might also be used in home cheese making or home brewing.

I wonder if the salespeople at the store know what it is for. I could just see myself getting in line with that thing, thinking I’m safe because its a “kitchen” store, and having the cashier ask “Oh those are new, what do you use that for?” And me, blushing: “Umm… errr… it’s….. a pan scraper, yeah, I saw it on the Food Network. It’s the new thing. Everybody’s gotta have one.”

Dang, I was just at a dollar store, and I didn’t see anything like that!
While I find alot of great stuff there, I’m always drawn to both the hairbrush aisle and the cooking utensil sections. And I even bought some non-spanking things like measure cups, so I wouldn’t have been embarassed to get in line with only something that looks like a paddle in my basket!

So many good possible ideas for the intended vanilla use of this evil paddle. I’m still not sure. I think those that guessed it’s some sort of oven shovel like a pizza peel might be on to something. Pixie as someone who has lived in the South going on 59 years I can tell you that little darling implement is in fact a “Butter Paddle” as some as said. And in fact the one I used to use, and now have since retired due to wear, I got from my Grammy who used to churn and and make her own butter and she passed it on to me since she said I seemed to have such a liking for it. I don’t know if she knew what I’d used it for but I think she had a good idea considering how I always found a way to swat someone’s naughty bottom around the place. I now have a collection of all different shapes and sizes of Butter Paddles, they are very good for packing a nice sting in a bad bottom.

To properly use a butter paddle, you should soak it in ice water for an hour to chill it. This keeps the paddle from melting the butter or with the use your putting it to, it will keep the paddle from overheating. Proper tool care is just good sense.
On the upside, the paddle won’t need to be hidden away in the toy chest when vanilla friends are over. You can hang it in the kitchen for traditional decoration. Perhaps start a collection.

I love shopping for unexpected spanking implements in antique stores, estate sales, etc. I found an incredible wooden cloths brush with a leather back in an antique shop. It is very old and I often wonder how many bottoms it tasted before it came into my hands. If only that brush could talk.

It is a “butterpaddle” I only know because I have spent most if not all of my life looking for “spanking implements” as well. I have hit may many antique shops as well as kitchen specialty shops. It was used in the old days in the butter making process. Of course, my family never had one even though my mom’s side of the fam had a farm but I love everything “spanking” and am always on the prowl, lol.
