I love baking and the holidays provide the perfect excuse to whip up some yummy treats in the kitchen. The only problem I’ve found is there is only so much you can eat! And it’s a shame to let food go to waste. So this year, instead of making the usual sugar cookies and gingerbread, I baked birdseed ornaments.
You mix together 3 cups regular birdseed, 1/4 cup flour, and 1/2 cup water and firmly pack the mixture into greased metal cookie cutters. Really make sure to press hard so the seed will be as compact as possible. Push a cut section of a drinking straw into each form and leave in place. Bake the seed and straw in the cutters in the oven for 1 hour at 170 degrees. Don’t worry, the straws will not melt.
Allow the birdseed ornament cookies to fully cool. Remove the cookies from the cutters and pull out the straw segments. Thread ribbon through the hole in each cookie where the straws had been. Hang outside for feathered friends to enjoy!

Thanks for the great idea! I’ve been looking for a way to bring the birds closer to my porch, and these ornaments will make a cute decoration too! Time to dig out my old cookie cutters! Now I just need to find someone to spank me if I spill birdseed all over! I love to bake, but I usually end up coating the entire kitchen with flour!

Very nice, I give you major props for originality. You say you love baking too. Is it just baking you love or cooking in general? I ask because I love cooking but try to avoid baking and I want to know if I am weird or others prefer one over the other as well.
As for only so much one can eat…tell me about it. We had a meal at work tonight, and with so many good cooks at my work, myself included, even with taking only a little bit of what everyone made filled you up quick.
Lastly, what kind of birds do you have? You and I really don’t live that far apart, (I’m a VA resident) Down here we have goldfinches, cardinals, blue jays, and robins…of course goldfinches is mostly what I see now.
For what it is worth though I have still been lurking on your blog even though I haven’t had time to write much; and if it isn’t too late to comment about that post regarding love of money or spanking, I say it has to be the love of spanking that matters to me. Case and point you and several of your fellow brats seem to love the spanking aspect which is why I stay a member of punished brats and have never joined, nor shall I ever join certain other sites where it is painfully obvious they are just doing it for the money.

i don’t have a feeder or a convient place [for me, not the birds] to put one. your cookies will be a godsend. i think i’ll try one experimertal batch with some suet added.
my yard is a n. c. aviary and the weather mild enough so i don’t think the little dollinks are starving. feeders attract unfeathered fauna so your cookie should be fine.
if you were thinking of me or not you’ve been adding a little harmless cheesecake to the mix and i sure do appreciate it. soi do rich and nootch i’m sure.
swedish pippakocca[i'm sure this is not the right spelling] and butter cookies are wonderfull things. a little creative cookie cutting and decorating and yummm! try looking up swedish ginger cookies.

What a great thing to do, I like that a lot. Kind to the cats and the birds.
Yet another kind gesture form Pixie has got me thinking…
Right folks, it has come to my attention that one Pixie just isn’t enough to cover the whole world. (Especially a happily married one at that.) Fear not I have a cunning plan. How many blog readers are there? I’m proposing that we all stick $127 in a pot along with our names. The “winner” gives up their day job and gets locked in a room. We don’t let them out until they’ve invented a fully functioning cloning machine… Loyal blog readers get the first ones of course. Then we start a “Mail Order Pixie” section for Punished Brats and we’ll all be rich. (All applicants to be properly vetted of course.)
Do we have a white haired spanker available? If so I feel it would only be right to have a “Snow White and the 7 Pixies” shoot. There’d be Spanked Pixie, Strapped Pixie, Caned Pixie… I’m sure you get the idea.
A plan with no drawbacks I’m sure you’ll agree?
