I like follow-up shots from the next day, the day after, the third day, next week (if applicable), and would like to see them more often. Big swaths of black and blue aren't very interesting, but patches of paddlemarks highlighted with clusters of inky speckles are nice, especially if overlaid by a few sets of tramline stripes. Not that I'm picky...
(And yours, enclosed - A+ Excellent!)

It was both amazing and quite pleasing to see the number of replies you got to this particular post, Pixie.
I join many others in saying I really don't care for excessive bruising (like in those early photos you shared)--pinkening or red coloring, fine.
And as one respondent commented, nice sharp red cane marks, ok.
Now I'd like to add a kind of request. One type of vid or even photo that has always appealed to me personally is where the spankee is being comforted by the spanker.
Is it possible for PB to include some of this in your upcoming vids? Just a simple hug (not ardent kissing) and maybe a word of two of comforting???
And one last time HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Thanks for sharing this Funbun. I agree that regular deep, severe bruising could become dangerous. Perhaps that is why the body (or at least the bottom) is able to adapt the way many of us regular spankees have discovered?

I hope you don't mind me moving your comment to be in response to the corresponding post. I have found that quite a few people do come back to check on previously posted topics to read others' comments and if someone were to do a search for the topic of marks and bruising, they would probably miss yours if it were under a Christmas entry.

Hope you have a wonderful holiday with lots of glowing red cheer. :)

Coming back to the Bruising issue of the last subject on this Blog: here is the formal statement of the American Orthopeadic Society:

(just copied and abbreviated it)

American Academy for Orthopaedic Surgeons

Athletes in all contact sports have many opportunities to get a muscle contusion (bruise). Contusions are second only to strains as a leading cause of sports injuries.
Most contusions are minor and heal quickly, without taking the athlete needing to be removed from the game. But, severe contusions can cause deep tissue damage and can lead to complications and/or keep the athlete out of sports for months
Contusions occur when a direct blow or repeated blows from a blunt object strike part of the body, crushing underlying muscle fibers and connective tissue without breaking the skin. A contusion can result from falling or jamming the body against a hard surface.

Compartment Syndrome
In certain cases, rapid bleeding may cause extremely painful swelling within the muscle group of your arm, leg, foot, or buttock. Build-up of pressure from fluids several hours after a contusion injury can disrupt blood flow and prevent nourishment from reaching the muscle group. Compartment syndrome may require urgent surgery to drain the excess fluids.
Myositis Ossificans
Young athletes who try to rehabilitate a severe contusion too quickly sometimes develop myositis ossificans. This is a condition in which the bruised muscle grows bone instead of new muscle cells.
Symptoms may include mild to severe pain that does not go away and swelling at the injury site. Abnormal bone formations can also reduce your flexibility. Vigorous stretching exercises may make the condition worse.

This is not my interpretatioon, it’s just a copy. Personally I believe that the occasional bruise doesn’t do any harm. But regular and deep bruising DOES.

Sorry for mentioning this under the wrong Chapter, but otherwise it might not be seen anymore.

Love you anyway, preferably with a nicely red glowing bottom, but without bruises..

Jeff - I actually tried to research online for something that might indicate why we are able to build up a resistance to bruising, but of course there wasn't much to be found about about the physical effects of spanking in the longterm. We need to get some scientists working on this STAT.

Tony - That is too funny!

Brad - Although the intensity of Dallas' spankings were certainly on par with what I would receive for disciplinary reasons "pre-Pixie", I have found that even in that case, I mark up significantly less. Check out my day after photo from my June 2007 trip to LA http://spankingpixie.com/2007/06/la-trip-wrap-up-thoughts-from-the-plane/. I'm bruised, but it's definitely less than my amateur days even after lots of heavy spankings with Clare, Chelsea, and Dallas in three days back to back to back.

Marie - I'm with you. While it would ruffle my feathers if someone approached me and said I was going to be spanked until I bruised, I am actually somewhat pleased when a few marks last by chance. Isn't it funny how excited we can get over things like bruising and pain when the average vanilla would go out of their way to avoid both?

007 - The human body is an amazing thing. While I stll have mixed feelings about my marks not being as easily acheived, I don't have as strong an affinity to the super severe ones any more.

Brad D - We always want what we don't have, right? Speaking of athletes, I tried to see if boxers / fighters get less bruised over time - I think I recall Dallas mentioning this to me one time. Again, I came up empty on that one. I must go apply for a grant for further study on this nagging question.

Steve (UK) - Yes, it's not always possible to have the girls start with a completely pale bottom especially if they are new to the scene and not used to being spanked. We try to give our girls' bottoms a little recovery time while others do their scenes, but even still, a new to spanking fair skinned bottom can look like a grape even after one handspanking. So there is definitely an upside and a downside to being an easy marker or a reslient bottom.

As for me doing only two scenes, no spin necessary. That was in fact the case in fact. We brought in two new wonderful fresh faces to shoot with us last time and as we have had a filled with such uncertainty as far as scheduling shoots, I wanted it to be the priority to get as much content of the new girls as possible so we'll have more variety to choose from as I add scnenes to the members' section.

But don't worry, I wasn't sitting around being bored during the shoot. I did photos with the girls for the bonus galleries and also conducted interviews for Pixie's Previews. Busy bee. :D

Tim - Thanks Tim. I enjoy a good challenge, but I wouldn't want to be subjected to something that would truly upset me either. I haven't heard from Sierra in quite some time. I hope she is doing well.

Prefectdt - I think that's a pretty fair balance to become very marked at the time of play but still have them fade qucikly after so many years of heavy play. I have heard that some even experience a diminished ability to achieve a true redness after a while if they are spanked very firmly and often!

Ed - Check out the link I posted in my response to Brad D for the post-spanking pics from my 2007 shoot with Dallas and here http://spankingpixie.com/2008/05/dallas-special-plus-plus/ for the 2008. I don't have any from my first spanking from him in '06.

Paul - That big chair is a super ninja. Seriously, it's awful about smacking my elbow because the seat is so far off the ground and just at the right height that I hit myself whenever I try to struggle or arch up. I've done two scenes with that chair and both times I've come away with a banged arm ... if it happens a third, I may have to introduce it to my friend the fireplace.

dani - Oh cute! Pink jammies are on my christmas list. :D Yours too?

Funbun - Like almost every aspect of spanking (or anything for that matter) there are those that enjoy one extreme or the other and the majority that fall somewhere in the middle. I used to be a major mark lover because I thought that the severity and resulting dark bruising was what adult spanking was all about. I still prefer a firmer scene and not light pats, but I can tell that my tastes have certainly chaged over time.

Erica - Yes, now you are the superhero of the spanking world - the bionic bottom! You can bruise a hand in a single swat. :D Ok, maybe that's pushing it, but you'll always be a spanking superhero in my mind.

D - My spanker was left handed so the cane marks naturally fell more to that side, but yes, looking back, there was a bit of wrapping around. Hurt like a %*&^% too!

Winchester - A set of tram tracks from a well executed caning is remarkable. I can even deal with a little bit of bruising as well, but broken skin is what scares me.

Self-caning must be tricky! You must have very good aim to get a good swing and not land where you don't intend.

N.T. - I'm very glad to hear that you and your lover are so well matched. It would be frustrating if one of you strongly desired severe mark-leaving spankings while the other did not. Loving spankings with the one you care about deeply are the best!

Tom - Yes, my bottom seems to have gotten used to the idea of being smacked regularly, but it certainly does not dampen the pain nor the experience.

Dr. Ken - Yes, coming soon ... "you naughty girl! Roll up your sleeve. You're not going to find matters so amusing when we spank your funny bone."

Todd & Suzy - There has to be a good medical reason behind this. Any spanky doctors in the house? Dr. Ken? Any theories?

Suzy, have you found this has happened to you over time as well?

2Good - It really does depend on the spanking, how many, and with what. After a PB shoot, I'm usually sore at least for a good day or two especially if I'm spanked with heavy wooden implements which make the muscles sore deep down. That nanny paddle though was good for leaving little half circle marks - not bruises per se, but red Cs towards my hips and thighs.

Tom - Not sure why you aren't able to get an email sent through. To answer your first question in brief, I have only received a swat or two in populated vanilla public. And for the second, I plan to address that in a future blog post as it's a very commonly asked question, but the post is taking some time to compose.

JC - If I really do receive a green sweater this year, I'm going to get nervous!

Tim - Glad you liked it. It was a very fun shoot.

Here's hoping your holiday finds you well. May your christmas involve a green sweater, so you be spanked until you're Christmas colored.

Pixie, my web site will not allow me to e-mail you for I have a few questions ask. such as have you ever been spanked in front of people who are not in the scene. And do you prefer to be spanked by a man or woman. Merry Christmas Tom

I was just wondering, how long does your bottom stay sore? Is there an average number of hours or days? Does it depend on who the spanker is, what type of spanking and if an implement is involved? Can you predict before a spanking how long you'll feel the after effects?

Would like to know the medical reason behind this no marking thing... because it is common. Doesn't mean that the spanking doesn't hurt the same though, like you say. Just can't show the proof!

Thanks for sharing the older pics... and hope that elbow is feeling totally back to normal.
