Really bad tennis? I recently found a neighbor that enjoys the game and is equally skilled as me – in other words chasing a lot of green fuzzy balls into neighboring courts and sometimes lobbing them over the fence. Still, it’s a ton of fun and great exercise.
In comments following a recent post as well as in a few email discussions I’ve had, the topic of tennis outfits has come up. Seems that the old fashioned tennis dress complete with ruffle panties is a rather popular fantasy outfit. The modern lycra active wear just doesn’t have the same appeal and more often than not, the skirts have shorts sewn in underneath. What’s the fun in that?
So I did my best to piece together an outfit that is more along the lines of the classic style using a pleated tennis skirt and a short sleeved polo. It’s not perfect or authentic, but I think it works.
I even included the ruffle panties. I’m guessing that the panties were meant to amuse onlookers who would catch a glimpse of them when the skirt flips up while the players are running and jumping? I can’t say they were the most comfortable to wear, but they certainly were cute.

Oh, I am so getting a tennis outfit next! It’s adorable. I’m quite sure I’ll never play tennis in though. Although, on second thought, it would be fun to have a reason to be dressed like that out in public.

My wife’s family used to belong to a tennis club that required tennis whites as on court apparel. OMG, I couldn’t go there without daydreaming about disciplining my wife (to be) or the hundreds of other female players in their pleated whites. It was enough to make a spanko’s head explode.

Looks like a great outfit to me, though you do realise that only the white panties would pass the Wimbledon dress code!

Love the look on your face in that first pic…somewhere between intense concentration and “what am I doing here again?” And wouldn’t those ruffles…erm…chafe or something if you’re running around after tennis balls?

Hi,
Just superb! I know I’ve already said similar things that your readers must be familiar with by now, but your ruffle panties remind me of the essence of my own personality and of the very real priorities I have as a person.
Among these priorities:
3) To always recognize and give a voice to the girl that lives deep in my heart, to delight in the joys of ultra-feminine things, and to share this side of myself with trusted friends.
2)To always be a dedicated and loyal friend.
1)To always be kind to animals.
I know this last one is especially shared by all your readers.
I think of myself as a very fortunate person to be able to respond to your posts!

Brava, Pixie! A lovely job you did rising to the challenge and assembling a ‘vintage’ tennis dress. You are correct that the ruffled tennis panties were actually meant to amuse the on-lookers, if the well-written Wiki bio of their first wearer, Gussie Moran, is accurate. Of course, hers were also intended to be on open display (definitely not the custom at the time), which requires a somewhat shorter dress than yours.
Alas, with the passage of time and the change of culture/custom, her activism now seems quaint and her point has been lost on subsequent generations. Given the current state of tennis attire, were you to show up for class in a near-duplicate her outfit, you just might find yourself hauled over the instructor’s knee at courtside for parading your panties in public. “Shame, girl, shame! Now we’ll see if you can’t keep that freshly reddened bottom of yours properly hidden.” (Sigh)

Pixie,
Next to a cheerleader outfit the tennis outfit is probably the most popular “costume” wear for people of our persuasion. It was that outfit that people like Anna Kournikova used to become known to the world and there are numerous photos around and on-line that show female players from the rear wearing simular attire. I know nothing about Wimbledon or tennis but anytime you can show off your panties in public appeals to me as a very naughty and exciting thing. When I first met Angel he had a picture of Anna from the back on his wall and it sparked quite a discussion which lead to our relationship.
Thank you for sharing your pictures !!!

You can’t play tennis well? Are you faking us out like when you said you weren’t a gardener then proceeded to grow enough vegetables and flowers to share with your whole neighborhood? Will you soon be on Wimbledon?

Actually, the whole outfit is supposed to be white. Where I work, I see them every day, and at least the dimensions are correct. Just a touch of booty showing under the skirt, yep, looks about right.

Carly – Do it! Even if you aren’t destined to be the next Serena Williams, it’s still fun to get out on the courst and try to hit the ball over the net.
Herb – I can only imagine! So many spankable bottoms running around in short skirts sounds like spanko heaven.
Steve (UK) – I guess that means I’d have to play in nothing but my bra and panties.
JC – Thankfully the ruffles are only on the outside of the panties so they aren’t any more likely to chafe than regular panties. I don’t think this particular pair was made for sports though as they aren’t made of the most breathable fabric and therfore a little uncomfortable.
dani – Ruffle panties are so cute and I managed to get a couple at a regular department store last year and an online friend has me on the lookout for more coming to another store this season. Keep your eyes peeled. I hope you’ll find a pair to pick up to add to your collection and to wear on special extra-feminine dress up occasions.
^Mike – A court side spanking! Might help to improve my game. Just as long as it’s not done with the tennis racket. I smacked my knee instead of the ball the other week and it left an awful waffle-like bruise.
Linde – Traditional tennis outfits are great. They aren’t all that different from cheerleading uniforms, but you don’t have to be in school or make the team to wear the cute outfits. I hope you have an Anna style dress or two in your wardrobe.
007 – Teeheehee. Glad you enjoyed the SET. Thank you!
Dr. Ken – Panty ruffles … for when you’re flying by the seat of your pants.
tim – Absolutely. A tennis themed video would be a lot of fun to do.
2Good – While I am improving with practice, I swear that I’m not particularly good at playing tennis. I enjoy keeping it non-competitive and having the goal be to get a good volley going. Maybe one day we’ll get good enough to play a real game and keep score, but I think that’s a loooong way off.
Redchief – I know that the traditional outfit is all white, but they’re just not that easy to come up in the old fashioned style and without those pesky shorts sewn in. Did the best I could!
