thanks for all the great comments and ideas. after a good session with our wooden implements including a number of heavy school type paddles with holes i do find that Borion's Arnica Montana helps heal up the bruising quickly i can also sit on a well paddled ass right away with little discomfort & I'm ready for another session sooner so i have to say i love arnica. i do have to be careful because after 2 or 3 heavy sessions (lots of paddling) my normal cheek color didn't come back for a couple months; but the major surface bruising was gone in a few days. it's also easy to travel with. i've used a number of different types of homeopathic's over the years with great results. the gels, creams & ointments need to be applied 2-3 times a day for best results. they are not used like a skin lotion that is applied daily. i first used arnica for my arthritis and the sublingual melts help with deeper stiffness & pain or after surgery. With the oral melts it's best not to eat or drink anything for 15-20 minutes before or after taking them. also there are different strengths some are for chronic conditions (like arthritis pain) and others are for occasional use (injury or spanking) so make sure you check with your pharmacist or vendor for appropriate dosage to get the best results...of course getting the attention of a tender loving application of anything soothing is special. when my husband & i were in high school he got a swat and when he told me i placed my hand on his left butt cheek and he swears to this day that my hand took the pain away. unfortunately i was unable to keep my hand on his ass all day and when i removed my hand the sting returned. he says the relief was only where my hand was so there is also something to be said for the touch of a lover & some healing massage!

I wasn't aware that you're getting that many spankings per shoot/day. Amazing that you're not putting up more fuss at the end of the day lol.

I love your work, please keep it up.

My bottom usually heals extremely quickly and I hardly get bruises. Different situation though and I'm usually not allowed to use any lotion... uhm well, I only tried lotion once and it did good magic :)

Linde & Angel - What an excellent suggestion. I'll look into growing an aloe plant. It will be good to have on hand not only for spankings but when my accident prone self decides to bake cookies.

Tony - I'm sure! I think even singles would do the trick.

Anon VII - That must take out the heat and reduce the swelling quickly. And of course gentle, loving aftercare is always extra soothing.

kaiser - I'd be totally up for trying to do so on film in a winter themed scene.

dani - Absolutely! Bubblegum is the right answer for almost anything but soothing a toothache.

Chelsea - Later is definitely better, especially if there is a chance of any more spanking happening. The freshly moisturized skin stings even more!

Erica - Yes, I've had broken skin. It happened more often in my private play years ago when I would engage in super severe spanking play / discipline. The number and intensity of the spankings I'd receive in a short period of time would lead to weak areas. These days I try to make sure that I don't do scene after scene with heavy implements because I don't want to permanently damage my skin or scar. The only time I get weepy patches these days is when I book several shoots back to back to back.

Your routine of using an exfoliant and lotion must work well because from the looks of it, your bottom is beautiful and appears baby soft.

Prefectdt - oh the itching of healing! Good point. Coconut oil does smell quite pleasant and is far better than trying to covertly rub your bottom all day.

Brad - Sitting on frozen veggies? Finally a use for frozen greenbeans I like. <grin>

funbun - I don't play that hard these days in my personal life in comparison to what I once used to take. I ended up with dark marks and weak areas on my skin that took a while to completely heal and that was a clear sign it was time to take a step back. I still like to have the challenge of a real and severe spanking for a dynamic scene once in a while, but I make sure it's safe so that I don't burn out physically or mentally.

justme - The smacks add up. Even when the spankings in one scene may not seem to be all that much, then receiving several other complete spankings after that gets up there. I usually receive three spankings in a PB shoot these days, but I have done up to 9 (with implements) back in our earlier shoots, 12 in a row im a day with firmhand, and then if I head out to visit my spanking company friends in LA for three days in a row of hard spankings, I usually end up sitting gingerly for a while. :)

Todd & Suzy - I could make snow angels with very well-defined bottoms. :D

2Good - I learned nearly them all back when I was into heavier play before even considering doing anything in the industry and before blogs became as popular as they are now. The person that would spank me regularly and so firmly introduced me to arnica and would provide bags of ice following very severe spankings. The lotion and neosporin plus were items I found to try to keep my bottom in good condition. I also would use a pumice stone (much like Erica uses the exfoliant scrub) to help smooth the hardened skin after a few days of discipline and also tried Mederma to help fade the scarring. :-S

Dr. Ken - ... and is always greatly appreciated.

Winchester - Would they sit on the radiator the same day or a day or two after the caning to help speed the healing along? I used to sit on the radiator in my home as a kid (while wearing jeans of course) after coming in from a freezing cold day. It felt so wonderful to feel myself thaw. Can't say that I ever had the opportunity (thankfully) to see if doing so would help with cane marks though.

^Mike - If the sting of the lotion is only fleeting and helps to soothes afterwards, it might still be worth a try. And you're right about the hot showers. They can sting right after and even a day later!

Dave - Thank you Dave! We may be scary, but the Brat Party is hoping we can count on your vote. ;-)

Excellent, as always, blog post, Pixie on post punishment posterior...um...caretaking. These informative posts compiled together would make for a wonderful "Spanking 101" book :)

Keep up the wonderful work,

Before I suggested using a vitamin E & Aloe lotion I’ve used for years to treat sunburns, which is similar in some respects to the skin abrasions you described in the last paragraph, I decided to test it after shaving very closely. Unfortunately, there was a very faint sting that I’ve never experienced when applying it to burns. The lotion itself feels cold as it goes on, soothes instantly, and disappears into the skin so you don’t even know it’s there, but that barely-there sting might be enough to negate any comfort it would provide. The only other thing I might suggest, also from experience with sunburns (which are inevitable if you spend much time outdoors in Florida), is relatively cool showers rather than hot, as the skin is damaged and hot water further stresses the tissue. Hope I didn’t add “fool to the fire” here.

It stings like mad - but the received wisdom at school was that sitting on a hot radiator after the cane helped draw out the bruising and so the lingering after effects were reduced. I never tried it however!

I assume you have tried all the methods you listed.
How did you gain all that knowledge in the first place when you first started out? Was it from medical research, spanko blogs, trial and error?

Ice really is good after a hard spanking... then lotion until everything heals up. After a mild/moderate spanking though, lotion works fine. Have to say though Pixie... snow sounds like the best possible option. Have this picture in our head of you getting a hard outdoor spanking... then sitting down on a snow drift... with steam rising around you. lol...
