(I was going to wait to post this, but I’m too pleased with my find.)
It may only be the beginning of September, but it’s not too early to start thinking about Halloween. Just ask the local retailers who have already stocked the shelves with giant bags of candy and pumpkin carving kits.
But perhaps even more fun than treats and decorations to me is the annual selection of a Halloween costume. I actually had a little bit of a hard time finding one I liked that wasn’t one I already owned.
But as I was scrolling through online catalogues of costumes, inspiration hit me. Or should I say, one of the relatively recent commentor’s inspiration hit me. Click – check – sold! My costume is on its way.
Any guesses as to what I’ll be this year? Please let me know if you have a guess, because even if it’s not correct, it may give me an idea for another outfit I just have to add to my collection.

How about a Shirley Temple costume. I can just imagine you performing “On The Good Ship Lollypop” With lots of spins and twirls so your little dress flies up affording a glimpse of those pretty ruffled panties that I so dearly love to see. All I can say is that your boyfriend is a very lucky man indeed.

The only reason that thought came to mind was due to my watching part of the Republican National Convention this past week. They showed a quick shot of the audience, and I had an “oh wow” moment when I realized they had shown a woman who looked somewhat like you!
And she was listening to the speech and taking pictures with her camera…. LOL

Having recently spent considerable time on-line searching for a vintage-style tennis costume (like Chris Evert used to wear), I can scarcely guess what wonderful gem had you so excited, Pixie, that you couldn’t wait to post. Not being much of a shopper, especially where women’s clothing is concerned, I was amazed at how many (ahem) ‘interesting’ costumes there are to choose from (though I’m not quite sure how much of the allure is attributable to the models vs. the costumes). Besides Dave’s Shirley Temple (try Lollipop Girl), I don’t see a Sleeping Beauty among your Fairy Tale pix but, beyond that, I’m drawing a rare blank here. I’m sure whatever it is, it’ll make a fine addition to your growing collection, and I can’t wait to see how you employ it in some future scene.
BTW, I was at last able to locate that ancient (to some), elusive photo of Evert at a developing site that Dave might appreciate, though he’s probably already found it:

Or, maybe its Go-Go the Schoolgirl Assassin from Kill Bill Volume 1, via the Cosplay section of Moon Costumes (bet that’s the last time your bf refers to you as “the ol’ Ball and Chain” eeep!!). That uniform may not exactly be regulation, but I doubt you’ll be receiving any spankings with the side of a Samurai sword – an implement no one will be rushing to add to their collection. Wakarimas?

I was VERY excited to see that the Halloween store opened up at the mall already.
Walking through I found the perfect costume! It was a Holy Devil. The dress was half red and half white, one wing, a devils tail, and a head piece with one horn and half a halo. Sexy and appropriate!

Sorry I posted under the wrong heading – but I was thinking of Cinderella. As the story traditionally opens she is sweeping the floor with a besom broom – ideal for Hallowe’en (with its flying broomstick connotations) – and ideal for the purpose as it is very like a bundle of birch rods…..

I’d go with a Naughty Mortgage Broker. You could go around passing out candy and approved mortgage applications, and then ask folks if they think you should be … punished. Might be a way to find some more fellow travelers.

Pixie, I’ve never seen you do the Geisha look. You should probably skip the heavy-duty facial make-up they wear traditionally, but you’ll definitely want to carry a Japanese fan to complete the ensemble.

Dave – I actually had a Shirley Temple style outfit, but when I looked for it, I couldn’t find it in any of my costume bins. I’m pretty sure I accidentally donated it to Good Will.
Dr. Ken – I saw Hilary, Obama, and McCain masks at the costume shop the other day. No Palin though as I guess she came into the spotlight a little late for this year’s Halloween.
I have a few ballet ensembles. Although I’ll probably never be a dancer, I’d love the opportunity to dress up as one. If only I could work it into a scene one day.
Redchief – Dorothy (sans her ruby slippers at the time) is in the bottom right photo. It got a little washed out in the sun so it’s hard to tell.
tim – We have been having lovely weather lately, aside from the tropical storm that blew through the area on Saturday. Knocked a bunch of my tomatoes right off the vines.
dani – So many votes for Shirley! I’m even more bummed knowing my dress is gone.
^Mike – Well, I hope the costume I found will look as nice in real life as it did in the photo on the website. Sometimes it doesn’t quite live up to the description and sometimes it simply doesn’t look as good on me as the gorgeous model posing in it online! We’ll have to see if I’m as excited about it when I get here and if all of you like it too.
joe – It would indeed!! Added to the top of my to-get list.
Scott – That would be so cute. I’d love a version with the complete tail, but I suppose that would make it rather difficult to walk around.
Adele – So many tantalizing possibilities. I think you should come over so we can be Roman slavegirls together. >:)
Dreams of Horses – I would looove a Japanese schoolgirl uniform (mace optional). I’ve drooled over those Cosplay costumes quite a lot.
Kat – Did you get the costume? It sounds ideal!
007 – I wouldn’t mind extending my range of costumes to include superheros although Rapunzel is an excellent idea too. I could be BratGirl. When the beacon is lit up, I know I’m being summoned to cause trouble.
Chloe – I just Google and see where my searches take me. Sometimes it’s ebay or amazon, sometimes a namebrand site like 3wishes, and sometimes it’s a discount warehouse. Other times I luck out and find one in stores like Party City (who unfortunately does not discount their costumes after Halloween … I’ve waited and checked).
Winchester – My costume would include its own domestic style implement? Brilliant.
Dave – I would so do that but did you happen to see House Bunny when Anna Farris’ character tried that? Ouch!!!
MikeP – I wonder what one would wear if they wanted to pretend to be a spanking model? No panties and lots of blush on the cheeks?

Bob – I have a Snow White costume, but I let Juliet wear it for one of the fantasy scenes we did and I don’t think there could ever be a cuter (and very tan) Snow White than she was.

Karl – And like Cinderella, Bo Peep can carry a staff for use in her own punishment. >:) I like.
