I’m probably opening up a big can of worms here, but this was not only a suggested topic, but it’s also a subject that comes up relatively often in email. Now, I don’t have any tattoos, but I did consider getting one a few years back - a small flower or a star near my hipbone. I’m glad that I didn’t as it would have been an impulse decision that would have lasted a lifetime. I really only wanted to get it done because my friend was getting one. She backed out though and so it never came down to decision time.
I have seen some tattoos that I consider absolutely amazing. They are like mini (or in some cases, not so mini) works of art where the skin just happens to be the canvas. Often times a person’s tattoos have significant meaning them and it’s neat to hear the story behind them.
But, when it comes to the spanking scene, the subject of tattoos is almost as heated a debate as the preference in panties. A small tattoo on the arm or ankle is easily overlooked, but when we have worked with girls that have significantly more ink, we get a lot of unhappy comments.
We do our best to use wardrobe items that will cover the majority of the tattoos to please our members. Sometimes this annoys or even insults the girls, but as our director points out, it is harder to depict a girl (especially a schoolgirl) who is routinely kept in line with old fashioned discipline like spankings and mouth soapings when she has a sleeve of tattoos. Members have also noted that large tattoos are distracting (and can’t be hidden in a bare bottom spanking) especially if they are close to the target area.
We have a couple of models that we used in the past who were terrific, and while we got lots of positive feedback about their performance, we got much more not so positive feedback about the tattoos. Many comments stated that they took away from the girl-next-door look. And while actually I think the average girl-next-door nowadays probably has at least a couple of tattoos and some body piercings, I understand what they’re saying.
It’s a tough call for us. Do we turn away a great potential spankee solely because she has tattoos that are large or in places that can’t be well hidden? When the model is one that we’ve worked with before, but each time we shoot there are more tattoos, do we eventually say we can’t ignore them? Or do we try to simply accept that tattoos are a frequent occurrence and hope that members will learn to overlook them? And if I were to get a tattoo, exactly how bad a spanking could I expect for it? Just kidding. I have no plans at the moment to get one.

I know that Punished Brats do not do historical scenes but if you did tattoos would be normal in any Victorian era scene. After the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) acquired a tattoo in 1862 it became fashionable among the gentry of Europe and North America and it would not have been unusual for a young lady of the richer classes to be sporting a tattoo. It is disputed as to whether Lady Randolf Churchill (Winston Churchill’s mother) was tattooed or not but one of the most noted personalities among the Victorian aristocracy’s, Edith Vane-Tempest-Stewart Marchioness of Londonderry, was noted for having a large tattoo of a snake on one leg. The last British King to have been known to have been tattooed was George V.
Tattoos are a fact of modern day life, I think it is a shame that a model of talent should be turned away for having one.

To me tattoos are distracting. As much as explicit shots of spankees. As a ’spanking purist’ I prefer the tender soft female cheeks to be spanked as unblemished as possible (apart from a lovely red color in the end of a good spanking). No need for tattoos for me.
I noticed over the years that tattoos are becoming very popular with spanking models as well. Many of them wear their tattoos just above the buttocks on the lower back as they can be shown to everybody, thanks to fashion that prescribes low cut trousers…
As a person with a mind that very often focusses on spanking, I can share a short story that really happened on a flight Amsterdam - Orlando which takes about eight hours.
A very good and sexy looking young woman was sitting in the window seat; me at the aisle next to her. She insisted I kept seated when she climbed over me to go to the toilets, showing a small stretched butterfly tattoo just above her buttocks. (She was wearing very tight white jeans that seemed to be glued to her well-rounded buttocks). After the second time, I asked her what took her to Florida and we engaged in some general conversation.
When she returned from the toilets for the third time (me watching that tattoo for the sixth time!) I couldn’t resist saying: ‘I watched your tattoo, all the time that you stepped over my lap and read somewhere in a magazine that girls who are wearing such tattoos are often involved in spanking..’
I wide smile ran over her face and she said rather straight forward: ‘That’s one of the reasons for going to Florida, getting my bum spanked..!’
We spoke for some ten to fifteen minutes about the subject of spanking and she was not inhibited about it at all.
I made a joking remark about me wanting to spank her: ‘If we were to stay at the same hotel, you probably would give me a reason to take you over my knee!’ To find that we both stayed near Fort Lauderdale, but despite the fact that she admitted loving to be taken over the knee by ‘perfect strangers’ I never saw her back again. She said that she loved to seduce men to spank her, as that gave her a special thrill; the unexpectedness, the sponteneity, the sudden approach…
The last glimpse of her perfect bottom in those white jeans at the arrival hall, was burned onto the hard-drive of my mind to never be forgotten…

The production of spanking erotica is ultimately a business. The Web makes a generous amount of imagery from many spanking sites freely available, but privileged access to the best of that work comes only through paid memberships.
Spanking models have a job to do. All of the fun in a photo shoot notwithstanding, it’s reasonable for viewers/members to expect to see a girl’s bottom being punished in explicit fashion. If a girl has a tattoo on the small of her back or her arm, the less I have to see of it the better. Anything more than that and I just move on.
Personally, a tattoo has no place in my approach to spanking imagery and what I love about it. I’m enchanted with viewing angles and displaced clothing; with the naughty bottom’s cheekiness and the spanker’s attention to it. And I’m happiest with a domestic/schoolroom setting for the spanking. strapping, slippering or what have you. People like what they like. Myself, I don’t want the visual distraction of artificially decorated skin.
I can think of one or two models that don’t even get out of the starting gate with me, their tattoos are so intrusive. Again, Pixie, I’m delighted you declined that invitation. The roses in your well-warmed bumcheeks are all the tattoos I’m looking for.

Getting a tattoo simply because your friends have done so is probably best avoided. What you choose to do - or not do - to your body should be a completely personal decision.
As for models sporting tattoos, I don’t find them a distraction if they are small and unobtrusive. More extensive tattooing could be accommodated in spanking scenes by, for example, depicting a schoolgirl who has been out of control for rather too long and is receiving an overdue punishment. Alternatively, there must be plenty of spanking scenarios involving college girls or young adults in which tattoos would not be out of place.

I’m attracted to a more “natural” look, so tattoos (or lots of makeup) aren’t choices I encourage. However, I also appreciate and respect that people should feel free to express themselves as individuals. It’s more important to me that her look be some genuine reflection of who she is, than to match some aesthetic ideal of mine. For instance, a goth look can be very attractive if it fits her. I think for you, Pixie, a tattoo doesn’t really fit my perception of who you are, for whatever that’s worth. Not that it would make any difference in how I view you if you got one, I do like that you don’t have any.
When it comes to spanking videos, I have no problem at all with the casting of a model with tattoos in a traditional or juvenile role. It actually can add a level of interest or drama in seeing a contemporary young woman placed in an old-fashioned spanking scene. It can create more tension, and I do enjoy the confrontation between a traditional authority figure and someone who represents an independent or rebellious spirit.
July 18th, 2008 - 7:40 am
I admit to being one of those people who dislike seeing tattoos in spanking movies. I don’t mind a small one, but for me it also depends on what kind of a tattoo it is (what is depicted). A tiny skull turns me off in a major way, while a tiny rose is OK because it can make a girl ‘cuter’ in a way. I guess it’s all just personal preference, and I happen to prefer seeing a tattoo-less person getting spanked, even though I don’t really mind tattoos in ‘daily life’.

pixie an interesting post they could be spanked for having the markings especially if they are playing schoolgirls i was sorry to note that sierras blog has been removed at least for now what a lovely spankee love tim

Above and beyond their appearance in commercially available spanking erotica, tatoos are the “badge” of short-sighted stupidity, in my opinion. Witness the burgeoning business of tatoo-removal sweeping
the market. Pixie, you were smart to resist permanetly marring your otherwise delicious expanse of integumentary real estate. And please enter my strong second to Brucie’s last line above!

I personally don’t mind if a gal has tats and I don’t think it takes away from that girl next door feeling, but I do understand how others can take it. It’s all about perception. I think a sweet girl with a small tattoo shows a slight wild streak that needs to be tamed.
As a teacher, I do my best to hide my tattoos. Granted they aren’t large, but I do have one in the small of my back that shows if I bend over to pick something up. The reaction from my students (high schoolers) was priceless. They couldn’t imagine their nerdy, quiet teacher having a tattoo. In the 5 seconds it took for them to sneak a peak, I instantly turned bad ass with everyone discussing my ’secret past.’ Once again it is all about perception, but I think there is a great story line hiding out in the world of sweet girls with naughty tattoos. Just throwing that out there.
July 18th, 2008 - 11:34 am
I realize this may sound fussy or old fashioned, but I never thought that tattoos on a girl was cool, let alone sexy. There aren’t many things sweeter than a girl’s soft smooth skin, especially the creamy smooth skin of her asscheeks. Yes I admit I’m a sensual guy, and I delight in the look and feel of clear firm smooth female skin. If a girl wants to wear a tattoo then she should choose something tasteful and feminine, like the small flower or star you mentioned. As for her backside I think it should remain as soft and unmarked as possible…except of course for some lingering redness from time to time : )
July 18th, 2008 - 11:35 am
look at it this way a lot of model like you do get tattoo all time when you get spankings. you get the hand, paddle or hairbrush tattoo into ya butt lol but it go away after while that the best part if you ask me. sort of like those fake tattoo you can buy and see
now me i alway wanted to get tattoo myself i alway joke going get one on my butt that said make all delivery to the rear or to the butt lol maybe u should try that sometime. so the person spanking me will know which target area to smack spank.
July 18th, 2008 - 11:52 am
that’s quite the little fantasy there, funbun. didn’t know you wrote fiction in addition to drawing.
July 18th, 2008 - 11:55 am
JJ, while you are entitled to your opinion, though it comes across as narrow minded to me!! When I was 13 and I did my own tattoos, yes, that was short sighted stupidity. Since becoming an adult I have collected personal tattoos for almost 30 years now and I don’t regret a single one. There is nothing shortsighted about it, in fact, Pixie herself has drawn for me the very next tattoo I am getting.
Mike- Are you sure you want to say ALL deliveries to the rear or to the butt? In the wrong place at the wrong time that could become an awkward situation

This topic is a can of worms! We certainly don’t have a problem with what others are into… would be silly to view the world otherwise given this thing we do. But personally, no… tattoos don’t work. Usually we have no idea what they mean to the person… if they mean anything at all. And they are a distraction, especially in a spanking scene.
A young lady is supposed to be getting spanked for passing notes in class, or missing curfew, or whatever… and when her pants come down… look, she has a tattoo of a giant eagle over her butt. Sort of like seeing a gladiator in a movie wearing tennis shoes and a watch. Sort of takes away the ‘innocent’ look.
Of course, that’s just us. Would always tell others… think it through… but in the end do what makes you happy.

As you said, Pixie, discussing the topic of tattoos opens a real can of worms. My feelings on the matter (and what other than feelings can we invoke here?) run mostly along the lines of what Brucie said. When viewing an image (whether video or picture) depicting something staged or re-enacted, there must always be a certain suspension of disbelief or one cannot get past the fact that what is being viewed is simply acting, no matter how realistically portrayed. That man is not being shot, and that girl is not being spanked by her real mother for a real misdeed. The presence of anything which makes suspending disbelief difficult or impossible can be a real turnoff and, since discretionary funds are involved, costly.
True, there are creative ways to solve the problem of a tattoo on a schoolgirl in a strictly supervised home (e.g., Eliza Dushku, in the film Bring It On, wiping off a “tattoo” she drew on her arm because she was “bored during study hall”). Or it can actually be the impetus for a more extensive spanking, once discovered. But how do you determine if a model has gone too far, and where do you draw the line? Suppose, for instance, a model shows up for a shoot with a new tattoo covering half her face? Having a tattoo doesn’t make someone a bad person, though they may have exercised bad judgment. Businesses, like mature adults, often must make difficult decisions and accept the consequences accordingly. Not everything can be worked around or into a scene, and successful businesses don’t simply expect their customers to buy whatever they’re offered, like it or not. Tough decisions are just that.
For the record, I have a long-time friend, whom I used to mentor when we worked together years ago, and the number of tattoos she has falls somewhere near that of The Illustrated Man. Every picture tells a story and, despite all the trouble she’s had succeeding in her job because of them, she wouldn’t part with a single one.
July 19th, 2008 - 1:06 am
I feel sort of bad saying it, as I’m a very “live and let live” sort of person and I actually LIKE tattoos on women in real life, but in a spanking scene I also prefer undecorated skin on the spankee. If any tattoos are present, small is preferable to large.
That said, I can’t see anyone getting bent out of shape because SOME PB models have tattoos, and SOME of those are fairly hard to ignore. There are enough tattoo-free models to satisfy the skin purists, and no one should expect EVERYTHING on a such a site to be EXACTLY to his / her taste. I think there’s room in the Punished Brats corner for SOME brats with tattoos. (And yes, the casting should be sensible; I don’t think an elaborately tattooed Snow White would make a whole lot of sense!)
I just thought of something: Do the people who are really turned off by tattoos on the spankees feel the same about the female spankers as well? Doesn’t a traditional, old-fashioned disciplinarian Mom also seem a bit less credible, if she permanent decorations adorning her hairbrush-wielding arm?
Hmmm … that made me think of something else: I wonder if there are any tattooed spankos out there whose skin art actually depicts a spanking, or spanking-related images? A discreet, tiny little hairbrush, drawn in the upper corner of a girl’s bottom, WOULD be awfully cute, wouldn’t it?
Okay, no more thinking for tonight.
Jeff

I was just going to write to you about this topic because I, too am considering a tattoo but (so far) I have only used temporary ones to get an idea of the response from others. Being near quite a few bikers the traditional “Harley” tattoo is popular and I have had positive reactions and comments about the small one I have square in the center of my back just above my jeans. Being able to remove it around family or while at the beach (which I don’t always do, sometimes I leave it on) is great and it becomes more like an accesory than a permanant decision to alter my body apperance.
I do find the films that PB has done with tattooed spankees to be exciting although it does take a little away from the “innocent” look that is sometimes desired.
I have often wondered if the tattoo could be incorporated into the plot. Possible mention the spanking she got when she first got it or use the tattoo as the reason for the spanking. Possibly, you Pixie could use a temporary tattoo in one of your films and have to remove it either before or after your spanking.
I personally find them very sexy but will probably stick to the temporary. I do find that men like to ask, although not as boldly as funbun, about my tattoo and it is sometimes a good way to meet people and also hear their “stories”.
Maybe you could try a temporary tatttoo and post some pictures, Pixie

I’ll be very glad when the fashion for tattoos passes - even small tattoos really spoil it for me.
July 19th, 2008 - 8:59 am
I fall in the I don’t mind them catagoery. I have seen a couple of gls on your site, Sarah Jane Celyon, comes to mind with major tat’s and she was fun to watch and didn’t take away from her girl next door personna just made her the girl bext door with an edge. And after all aren’t they just as deserving of a spanking?
Over at Real Spankings they have several girls with tat’s and they were actually some of my fav girls to see spanked, like Holly, who always made you focus on her magnificant bottom and facial expressions.
I know when I am looking at dancers for shows I have done we get a majority of girls showing up with ata’s and they were for the most part always personal and had a story and for the ones who had one of those …what the hell were you thinking…tats, they usually were eleminated because they just simply couldn;t dance…lol.
Now as for you getting a tat…hmmmm…some girls are just not ment for them, but if they do get the..well I’m thinking a paddle with a inked side that says…nice girls tats get spanked off…just a thought.
July 19th, 2008 - 1:04 pm
Pixie,
I’m not going to weigh in on how I feel about tattoos because others have expressed it well enough. I’m just going to say that I’m very, very glad that you didn’t get one.

Great topic! All this reaction got me thinking again…about how spanking imagery is a form of communication, presenting me with the ritualistic punishment of a naughty girl’s bum. Remember rabbit ears on a television set, and fiddling with them to get the best possible reception? It’s natural to want to view and/or listen to something free of any interference.
For me, a tattoo, even if it’s on the arm of the spanker, is interference. It’s like having unexpected company in the middle of a movie. No one forces me to look at spanking pics and videos. I do it, saving what pleases me, because I thoroughly enjoy feeding that hunger. Important phrase back there: “what pleases me.” As a spanking consumer, I’m choosey.
Having a picture drawn on your skin is anyone’s prerogative. But my problem with tattoos in a spanking context is that the more conspicuous they are, the more they encroach on the upturned bottom’s rightful claim to my attention, the more I have to forget about the movie I was enjoying (yeah, and I even had the rabbit ears just right) and play host to unwanted guests.
July 19th, 2008 - 3:52 pm
Wow, I had no idea this was such an issue for folks with in the scene, I guess I just never really thought about it, since it’s not an issue for me! I really have to agree with Jeff, there are always some videos that aren’t to my taste or some girls that just aren’t attractive to me and I just choose not to watch them. I’ve got two tats myself and I am so happy that I went though with getting them. It’s the same for me as Kat said, I can be professional on the outside and all nerdy as I am, but I know I’ve got this little bit of naughty across my ribs and just below my belt. I can understand that some people don’t care for them, but again just pick a different video.
Great topic Pixie!

Well Pixie, you have certainly drwan some responses with this one. If may add my two-pennyworth: I am glad you did not get a tattoo - especially just to keep up with a friend! I don’t quarrel with some very small, feminine tats (a small flower of buttefly perhaps) discreetly on a feminine shoulder say - but other than that I find tattoos disfiguring on men and women alike! Mopst piercings (other than for traditional ear-rings) have the same effect on me.
I have become accepting of Beverly Bacci’s upper arm tattoo (but stil believe she is far more attractive without. What I have ever been able to discover is WHY people want to be tattooed in the first place.
In then end it comes down to personal taste - but it is not mine!
July 19th, 2008 - 5:57 pm
A person that is tattooed has forever forsaken a portion of their nudity.
July 19th, 2008 - 9:26 pm
Whilst I very much appreciate it affecting the credibility of certain scenes, I find it, frankly, insulting that my judgement and intelligence is automatically deemed unfit or lacking in some way because I have tattoos.
I certainly didn’t get mine because my friends had them. Before I became part of the spanking scene, I don’t think I had any friends with tattoos. I love the process of getting them. The designing, the exquisite inking, the healing and the marking.
If people choose to think that my 4 degrees are somehow invalid because I clearly can’t make educated, rational, decisions, then so be it.
If tatts are that much of a big deal for a producer or photographer, all they need do is inform the model in advance. If s/he’s got any common sense, or general modeling experience, they’ll get hold of some appropriate method of cover up, whether cosmetic or costume.
I know some very prolific models who use dermablend over their tattoos to the extent that I was quite surprised to discover that they actually had any.
It’s not rocket science, and yet people in the spanking sector of the modelling industry just do not seem to ask - instead they huff and puff over the hideous deformity of the ink and decide not to use the model again, rather than choosing a more practical approach.
Just as mainstream models have to take out piercings/change their hair/ wear bizarre things for their jobs sometimes, so us non-mainstream models should expect requests like that on occasion too.
And the producing houses need to realise they can ask that of their employees and come to some sort of mutual resolution to the issues.
If models kick up a stink about being “insulted” because you want them to wear a long length shirt to cover a back tatt, do you really want to be employing that sort of diva?
Given all the very serious upheaval in the UK scene just now, the last place I expect or want to see mob mentality and narrow-mindedness is within the scene itself.
*sighs and goes to bed*
July 19th, 2008 - 11:07 pm
Goodness, as I stated when I first began this post, I had a feeling it would open a can of worms, but not quite to this extent. Given the strong feedback we’ve received over time at PB, I anticipated people weighing in with their opinions, but never did I think that one’s intellegence would be called into question over having body art. I understand that tattoos may not be everyone’s cup of tea because we are all different, but how is having one a reflection on one’s character or intellect? I can’t disagree with that more.
I enjoy the feedback and the open discussion which is why I posted the topic. It’s much more enlightening than a narrower conversation limited to email with just one person. Usually when the topic would come up in email, it would be a member voiced concern and so I’m very pleased to have received several positive responses about them here.
Tattoos are very popular. In fact, the majority of the models we feature on our site have at least one. I think it’s simply a reflection of the general population - as I mentioned in my post, we aim for the girl-next-door look and today, the girl-next-door today is more than likely to have a tattoo (this includes schoolgirls, or at least they do in my neighborhood), but at times we do prefer to keep them hidden to depict a different tone.
Some of the most amazing girls we’ve had the pleasure of working with have several and everyone would be cheated if we had considered not working with them for any reason. It’s not a particularly big deal to us (or at least not to me) unless there are large pieces occluding the actual bottom cheeks, but based on feedback, it’s a much larger deal to others. And so while we don’t have any intentions of letting one’s tattoo status be the deciding factor on working together, we will continue to ask for long sleeves when dictated by a scene, and otherwise not worry too much.
July 20th, 2008 - 1:08 am
Pixie,
I would never presume to tell anyone what to do with their own bodies. This is a personal choice.
The one exception I made was with our daughter. When she turned eighteen, she wanted to get a fairly large butterfly tattooed on her chest. I told her than unlike the painter’s canvas, the human body is neither flat nor stationary. It’s quite possible that in twenty or thirty years, that pretty butterfly could more closely resemble a pterodactyl. To my surprise, she took my advice and didn’t get it.
As far as your videos, I think the appropriateness of tattoos would depend upon the scene. I can imagine ink either enhancing or detracting from the story, depending upon the type of character you’re trying to present.
This topic may indeed be a can of worms, but you generated a very lively discussion.
Hugs,
Bonnie

Pixie,
A couple of generations ago, tattooed women were almost nonexistent, and even today they are in the minority. As late as the 1970s, most people associated tattoos primarily with lower socio-economic types (convicts, carnival workers, etc.), and if you’re of a certain age you probably still tend to think of them that way. Like most people, I would never presume to tell people what they should or shouldn’t do with their bodies, but as an older man, I agree more with Brucie, James and JJ and hope that tattoos are just a passing fad. My philosophy is that the female body is perfect in itself, and you just can’t improve on a work of art by covering it with ink.
July 26th, 2008 - 11:04 am
No, no, no, do not for goodness sake ever get yourself defaced with a tattoo.
I strongly dislike seeing girls with tattoos of any kind, and they completely ruin a spanking scene.
If you want to use a pretty girl who has a tattoo then get her to cover it with make-up (rather than clothes) so you can still do nude scenes. If she takes offence then she is not the sort of girl you want to employ anyway.
July 26th, 2008 - 11:44 am
James - An excellent model that we worked with that had several large tattoos on her legs and back told us that make-up coverup was not practical for video shoots. Photoshoots are a possibility, but “Covering the tattoos up for nude video work is not realistic, as the makeup will come off if there is too much motion on my part or the heat of the video lights causes me to perspire.”
I can certainly attest to spanking video work being a hot, sweaty ordeal (what with all that squirming, kicking, and pain plus often having to keep the AC off because of background noise) and so makeup would probably indeed quickly rub right off.
July 31st, 2008 - 4:27 pm
Please don’t change your policies based on these complaints. There must be far more spanking fans who don’t care about this tattoo stuff. Complainers make more noise than satisfied customers. I don’t much care for tattoos, but some of my favorite models have them, and some too large to hide. What if Pixie got a big ol’ tattoo? Would that mean she’s no longer a suitable model? Hogwash!
Spanking models are adults. If you needed models to look realistic as children, you’d hire children to play the roles. Maybe that’s what some people really want? They want to see children, but have to settle for adults who look like children because of the legalities? And these people have the audacity to question the intelligence and integrity of people with tattoos?
Spanking models are very interesting adults. I don’t see them as simple props to stage a fantasy. I figure if someone is more interested in something painted on the skin, than on the complexity that is a human being, they might be about as deep as a tattoo.
August 14th, 2008 - 10:13 am
I’m not turned off by tattoos unless they are extremely large or disfiguring, such as a face tattoo. Lower-back tattoos turn me on quite a bit, since it indicates that she expects to be admired and appreciated back there–not to mention that she’s unlikely to be traumatized by the pain of a good spanking.
I don’t understand why guys who are turned off by tattoos are so *extremely* turned off, but it seems to be a fact. And in the spanking community, they seem to have a significant majority. I don’t get it, but I’m resigned.
