Believe it or not, I managed to take these pictures and escape with only two mosquito bites. Now I just have to cross my fingers and hope there was no poison ivy nearby when I took the seated photos. That would be rather awkward to explain.

If you read the directions on the back of the Calamine Lotion bottle, Pixie, it clearly states: “Lather, SPANK, repeat” That’ll take away the itch for a while, though not the well-earned redness.

Beautiful photos Pixie. You do so have the magical fairy look when you are surrounded by nature. They are all so wonderful but number 2 is my fav as well. Love the look on your face. I also love the one you posted on myspace.

Absolutely GORGEOUS pics, Pix!! I really like the composition of the first, but I agree that your facial expression in the second is just perfect. Thank you SO much for risking the unfriendly insects and plants to take these and share with us.
I agree that these would make lovely postcards (and if I had a computer all to myself, you would SO be my desktop wallpaper!). Photoshopping some big butterfly wings onto your back, especially in the first pic, would open up a whole new market — dorky as the idea may be.
All I know is, if pixies like this — however rare — really frolicked in the forests, we’d have a much fitter nation, because EVERYONE would be hiking in the woods as often as possible!!

I don’t know how the mosquitos are around your neck of the woods, but they are horrible this year. They’re quite agressive. Supposedly, all the snow we had last winter helped protect the larvae and this summer’s high humidity are perfect conditions for them.

Linde - The mosquitos were kind. Only bit me on my arm. With all of the places they could have landed for rarely exposed flesh, I consider myself to be very fortunate. Hmmm … I know a few park rangers pretty well. Now you’ve got my thoughts going!
Smallhanded - Yes, the mosquitos are bad here too. They laugh at my bug spray and say they consider DEET to be a condiment.

Is it plausible such beauty is merely evolved accident and chance?
Rather, does it not support the theory of Intelligent Design?
Granted there are flaws in those arguments - but none apparent in the lovely lady. One look at her is better argument for a hierarchy of efficient causes than all of Aquinas’ Summa.
