I like moderate tan lines, particularly in the summer. They suggest some fun on the beach or at the pool took place while at the same time highlighting the spanking target area. I also generally like a little bit of a warm summery glow but of course always need to keep my backside as pale as possible so that when I’m spanked, the redness is in no way muted.
BUT … while the warm sun can feel wonderful and bronzed skin and tan lines can be pretty, I find myself worrying about the harmful effects of the sun’s rays. Beyond burning, I fear wrinkles, sunspots, and most importantly, skin cancer. I know far too many people lately that have had to have lesions removed. Are tan lines worth the risk??
I found myself worrying over this for the 10 minutes that I lay in the sun and then decided enough was enough. I doused myself in SPF 55 and sat at the table under the deck umbrella.
I have plenty of PB work and schoolwork I ought to be doing anyway. Seems I also ought to work on my posture. Tsk.
So where do you stand? Are tan lines appealing to you and if so, are they worth the risk?

Use SPF 15. You’ll still get tan without the damage. (In theory, right?)
June 3rd, 2008 - 1:51 pm
Anything that accentuates a girl’s bottom is appealing to me, but I happen to be fond of paler complexions (maybe it’s spanking related or perhaps it’s just an appreciation for classic, alabaster skinned beauties). So I say, not worth the risk. Not that I’m lecturing, just giving an opinion!

Well, I will goon the record and say…LOVE TAN LINES! However you can’t question the information regarding health risks. Being someone who doesn’t work on my tan (come by it naturally) but still when I hit the beach or am working on outdoor events or shoots I do use sunscreen.
However that being said…I LOVE TAN LINES…simply for the reason you said…creates the perfect target for the spanking!
Thats just my take…wink wink…your bottom is spankable enough tan lines or sans tan lines.
June 3rd, 2008 - 2:18 pm
I find tan lines appealing, but not if over done. Nothing wrong with a little bronze to the skin, but unless someone’s natural complexion is darker to begin with, it probably isn’t healthy to look like a brown leather belt.
I have seen people go from one extreme to the other. Both of my sisters used to be the get-as-dark-as-you-can types, but now they wouldn’t be caught outside without a minimum SPF 30, and they’ll suffer the heat to keep covered up as much as reasonable/possible.
Personally, I think if it is a concern, then it’s probably not worth the risk. I consider myself quite lucky as I have never sunburned in my life and have spent a good part of it outdoors. However, I will say that even I use some sun screen when I know I’ll be outside prolonged periods of time. I don’t go looking for tan lines, but they inevitably will happen in one way or the other if you spend any amount of time outdoors.

It’s NOT good for your health to bake in the sun as we all know nowadays. But ten minutes is absolutely fine..! You need sun-light anyway to provide the body with the necessary vitamines.
Personally I like the natural skin most, without any sunburn, tan-lines, make up or what when the buttocks are concerned.
And when YOUR buttocks are concerned I like them..! Just as they come.
When “covered” in white cotton rather full panties and when not covered.. Well ehh.. Guess they are simply gorgeous..!
Love and XXX, Funbun

I think you look great just as you are. No need to go overboard to look tanned. Fair skin in pretty too and much healthier. I am really careful about sun exposure. I loved a reaction I got when I was recently asked my age. Even though I told the truth, I was called a liar…and asked where my wrinkles were. So I’d say keep it to a minimum so you can always have youthful good looks.
June 3rd, 2008 - 4:46 pm
Oh geeeez… well, since you asked, I’m going to slip into No-Fun-Mom mode.
I agree, tan lines are pretty, and so is golden skin. But no, it’s not worth what you’ll have to deal with later. All the cumulative damage of those lovely tans shows up with a vengeance, with brown spots all over the place, and wrinkles. And if you’re lucky, that’s all you get. If you’re not lucky, you get skin cancer.
Both John and I have had it — I had squamous cell carcinoma on my forearm, and he had melanoma on his back. I was lucky, as I ended up with a scar about the size of a nickel. He had to have a huge chunk taken out of his back and his scar is formidable.
You’re such a beautiful woman, Pixie. Guard your looks. Make friends with self-tanner. I did.
June 3rd, 2008 - 4:54 pm
The fact that I have pale irish skin kind of sways my opinion on the subject. I love a good tan, but I burn within minutes of being out in the sun wearing SPF 50. Then all I get to show for the pain is a bunch of freckles! Play it safe girl, because after all, who wants skin cancer?
June 3rd, 2008 - 6:55 pm
hi i have always wanted to spanked a girl with tan lines on her bottom so i like tan lines
June 3rd, 2008 - 7:39 pm
Any time you find the idea of a nice tan appealing, just chant the following mantra at least 50 times:
Basil Cell
Squamis Cell
Melanomia
Oooooom
Then you will feel better!
June 3rd, 2008 - 8:07 pm
Save your skin…you’ll be glad you did. Hmmm self-tanning…sounds safer, would you do that and then keep your bottom pale to make “pseudo-tanlines”? I’d be all for that!
June 3rd, 2008 - 10:48 pm
Tan lines beat an “all over tan” when it comes to spanking, because the reddened bottom is so hard to detect on the latter – at least on video. Your first paragraph sums up the only real reason to have tan lines: to highlight the spanking/spanked area. Pasty and pale all over looks “sickly,” though.
If I recall my ancient biochem properly, Funbun is correct about the body needing the sun to make certain vitamins. Have you ever considered the “tan through” line of clothing that is woven to permit sun to pass through? You could still wear the bikini underneath to get the tan lines, but go about your outdoor activities like hiking and gardening, protected by sunscreen, and just cut out lying in the sun. Frankly, I don’t know how you’re able to just lay there and do nothing for any length of time, with all your mind gets up to.

Tan lines are pretty but, coming from Oz, I know all too well the dangers of tanning. Not worth the risk. Your bottom is as pretty as a picture tan lines or not!
June 4th, 2008 - 12:16 am
Skin cancer is no joke, and you are right in being careful. Tan lines or not, I think you’re absolutly beutiful just as you are. I wouldn’t change a thing.
June 4th, 2008 - 12:52 am
Only you can decide if it’s a risk and if so if it’s worth it. As Chloe points out, you can be protected and still tan some. And I gotta agree with the other tan line fans, that there is nothing like reddened white cheeks with tan outlines!

I’m all for tan lines and I think everyone needs some sun exposure in order for the body vitamin thing to work. I had Roseatia (sp?) when I was younger and was told that exposure to the sun would help clear it up sooner. You don’t want to over do it but pale skin doesn’t seem healthy to me and living in FL I sure don’t want anyone here to think I’m one of those people from up Nawth just visiting. LOL

Dear Pixie,
Get over here, I’ll give you a “tanning”….
I remember finding a stash of Playboy magazines at my Uncle’s house once when I was younger. I had the house to myself and had the time to look through them. Many of the ladies pictured had the tan lines–tan in the usual places, but lily-white breasts and tush. I loved the contrast, as well as the suggestion that the very white areas were not meant to be seen. Probably because of that, I do find tan lines very appealing and sexy.
Knowing what we know today, though, I’d have to go along with most of the others and say, no, it’s not worth the risk.
So let’s be careful out there!
Dr. Ken

Tan lines really don’t do anything for me. I think you’re naturally beautiful without all that sun (HUGGS) And it’s certainly not worth skin cancers or other risks. If you really want something to tan your lovely pale hide….make it a spanker
June 4th, 2008 - 7:50 am
pixie you look lovely as usual have a spanking good time love TIM
June 4th, 2008 - 10:23 am
Pixie…….did I say something to upset you in my last post or what????? I imagine it was just an oversight……….
Yes, I do like tan lines BUT not at the risk of your well-being. There are other ways to attractively frame your bottom if you decide not to tan!!!!

Dear Pixie,
I love all these comments. I especially like Erica’s
remark: “make friends with the self-tanner.”
Before you do that you can make friends with me. I’m
willing to like you either way.
June 4th, 2008 - 2:03 pm
Dear Pixie,
I love the way you look without tan lines so please don’t stay in the sun to long. Love ed
June 4th, 2008 - 2:47 pm
Just for the record — the vitamin that you get from the sun is Vitamin D. And you can also get that in a glass of fortified milk.
June 4th, 2008 - 5:46 pm
Hi Pixie,
maybe you should ask a dermatologist for how long you can stay outside in the sun without endangering yourself to get skin cancer. That guy should know it and you are on the safe side then.
Well, I don’t mind tan lines but they aren’t essential to me. If you have to damage your health to get them then they are definitely not worth it.
Besides, you just look lovely in that bikini.
Regards
Elor

Honestly, I don’t think laying out in the sun every now and then is a bad thing. You get a lot of good things from the sun as well. Be responsible and put on SPF, I’d say 30-35, and you’ll be fine. A tan isn’t what the problem is, but if you’re out constantly in the sun and not wearing sunscreen, or lay out without sunscreen and tons of tanning oil on, then you’ve got something to worry about.
I don’t think laying in your back yard with SPF on is gonna hurt you

I’d go along with other people here, and say that looking after your skin is the most important thing. Especially your bottom, so don’t go getting too many nasty bruises from all these new implements.
As for tan lines, I don’t personally find them very attractive over a woman’s breasts, but I think they can look quite appealing on the bottom.

Hi Pixie,
Thanks for writing about your garden to me. I appreciate it.
I am indeed enjoying the nice weather.
Thanks.

Chloe – if that’s the case, then that’s awesome, but I’m not sure if it’s enough protection to permit purposeful sunbathing. The skin cancer reports I’ve been hearing lately have me feeling scared and guilty every time I step outside.
Peter – Pale can be good when it comes to spanking. That’s why no matter what, I’d keep the bottom as white as possible. I wish I had lovely creamy fair skin like some of my fellow spanking models (Beverly, Bailey, Pandora, I’m glaring jealously at you) rather than plain-in-need-of-color pale.
Spanker – Well, I do have a hint of tan lines now from my brief sunning sessions. I’ll be curious to see if they show up on camera tomorrow and mark the target area.
Javi – Never been sunburned??? Wow. I wish I could say I was so fortunate. I’ve had a few very bad burns (to the point of sun sickness) and hope I haven’t caused too much damage already.
Funbun – I definitely don’t hide indoors as you can see from my many hiking and garden adventures, but I do worry and feel guilty about laying out just for tan lines even if I do like the way they look. I’m glad you like my buns either way!
2Good – Well, having been lucky enough to see a picture of your pretty, wrinkle-free face, I’d say you know what you’re talking about!
Erica – I’m very sorry to hear that both you and J have had to deal with skin cancer. How frightening that must have been. Self-tanners are sounding better by the minute.
Kat – Freckles are pretty too! But skin cancer isn’t. Keep your lovely Irish skin healthy.
bill – Totally understandable. I hope you one day get to spank a little beach bunny with tan lines.
Anonymous – Eeeesh. Even the names are appropriately scary sounding.
Seatschorcher – Yep. I’ve even tried that in the past – carefully applying the tanner around my bikini bottoms. I’m not so good about getting it all on evenly especially on my back … I’m only so flexible, so I haven’t used it much. Perhaps I need to ask my bf to help tan things other than my bottom.
Dreams of Horses – Nope, never looked into tan through clothing for hiking, but I did once get a tan through swimsuit. I wanted to try to get some color on my boobs without going topless. I really wanted to have my bottom be the only thing with tan lines so I applied sunblock to my bottom to keep their paleness. Now I’m just a universal pale. Boobs and all. TMI?
prajnaparamita – You must receive some very intense sun in Oz! Hope your knowledge of the dangers of tanning isn’t from firsthand experience.
Dave – Awww. Thank you!!
Mark – If I can truly be protected and get some color, then that’s the best of both worlds. My tan isn’t too defined at the moment, but I guess that will mean that my spankers will need to pay extra careful attention when trying to color within the lines.
Linde – No, you wouldn’t want to be mistaken for a Yankee out of towner.
It’s pretty warm these days up here, so it must be sweltering where you live. Hope you’re sunning pool side!
Dr. Ken – I will definitely need SPF (Spanking Protection Factor) of 55 or greater if I get that kind of tanning! Where do I sign up.
007 – “If you really want something to tan your lovely pale hide….make it a spanker” That should so be an ad campaign for sunblock in a spanking magazine.
Tim – It’s my favorite time of year! I’m always happy when I can be outdoors and generally run around with little in the way of clothing on.
Aristotle – Nope, just skipped a line. Sorry! My tan lines would never be all that defined. I only get so dark and then I would just burn anyway.
dani – Erica has some very sound advice. Self-tanner and a glass of milk.
Ed – Don’t worry. I won’t lay out too long. I can’t stand to be idle for long anyway.
Erica – Good point! And thankfully I love milk. I think I’ll pour myself a nice tall glass of vitamin D to go along with some graham crackers.
Elor – Well, my dermatologist asked me what sort of sun protection I use and I told him that (at the time) I used a moisturizer with SPF 15 and that was it. He told me not to go out without less than SPF 45 and to use it on my whole body, not just my face. He can be very toppy about it too when he’s lecturing. :-/ I’ve gone for middle ground with SPF 30 … until mega guilt hits like it did on Tuesday and I bust out the 55+.
Kate – Oh! Tanning oil. No way. I promise. I can hear myself sizzle just thinking about it!
Steve (UK) – We shall see what tomorrow brings, but my bottom now seems to be the one and only spot that is resistant to bruising. After my collision with the doorframe the other night, I wish I could say the same about my forehead.
I am with you about the tan lines over the boobs. I know some like them because they feel it highlights another attractive part of the female body, but I like them to blend in a bit more. Perhaps so as not to upstage the buns.
