I know this is really behind times, but Arnica DOES really work.

Kate has already explained the process, but you want gel apposed to cream, its less concentrated and works better.

As for the pills, I was told that you have to start taking them a couple weeks in advance for them to work effectivly.

I've never really tried the pills, but I know the Arnica gel really does work for me!

Peace out, and happy spanking times!

anonymous 1 - Thank you for the tip. The scent of rubbing alcohol and soy sauce actually doesn't sound all that bad to me. If I use it, can I claim I earned my bruises from martial arts training instead of admitting I walk into sharp corners ... repeatedly? :)

anonymous 2 - I kept your advice in mind and paced while rubbing my leg after I walked into the edge yet again this morning (in my defense, it was dark this time). I'll look into the Cryogel and definitely up my Vitamin C intake a little. With cold and flu season here, a little boost is a good idea in any case.

Kate - Would you say the tablets worked better than the cream?

Steve (uk) - Despite my threats, I think the bed frame is safe from me and any sort of sanding tools. I think my boyfriend would be miffed if I tried out my Bob Vila skills on any of the furniture. :-/

Funbun - Goodness. I hope it would never get to the point that I develop permanent bumps. Maybe a thick folded over blanket can be draped over the edges until I can learn to navigate better!

Prefectdt - I much prefer the cream too and never had a reaction to it. For some reason it's become harder to find around here as opposed to the gel.

winchester - Ouch! Sitting on a radiator with a freshly caned bottom sounds very painful!

Amy - I've always been a bit nervous about trying the pills, but if they are so good that people are making off with your supply, then perhaps I really ought to give them a try!

anonymous 3 - Isn't it funny how our bottoms have built up a tolerance while the rest of our bodies bruise easily? I like the idea of having to get a nice massage.

Chloe - Chicken, yes. Spinach, yes. RICE, heat, and vitamin K, sure thing. But green beans?!?! Blargh! So not cool. I'm shuddering at the very thought.

Kate - Thanks! I think you've already answered my earlier question. Sounds like the pills worked better for you than the cream. What site do you recommend if I can't find them locally? Any particular brand?

Aristotle - Though I certainly get sore, m bottom doesn't get bruised from a spanking these days unless I receive a super hard session with an implement. It's my thighs I keep managing to bang up, but if my bf is kind enough to rub my legs, perhaps he'll help with my sore but unbruised bottom as well. :) Never hurts to ask.

Paul - I have some witch hazel here that I've always used as an astringent. I can give that a try tonight as I have it on hand.

Thanks everyone for all of your suggestions. I'm going to check out the local shops for the products you mentioned and experiment a bit to see what works best in my case. In the meantime, something to cover those corners are in order until I can learn to avoid them!

Hey, we must have the same kind of bed! Plus, the dog sleeps on the floor... so we have to dodge her too. Inevitably we crash into the side of the bed. No deep bruises though. No tips on what to do about those, though it sounds like you're getting some good tips. Do be careful though! Maybe a night-light would help.

:)
Todd & Suzy

Pixie

The accepted wisdom of the medical profession seems to be that arnica does not work any more effectively than any placebo a doctor might prescribe.

However, maybe if you think it is doing your bruised bottom some good...then it is doing it some good!

What I think you really need to do is to spend a lot of time gently massaging your nether cheeks and giving your spanked bum lots of TLC.

If I can help in any way...!!!!!!!

Aristotle

24-48 hours after injury: use ice to slow the blood flow to prevent bruises in the first place. RICE, pixie, RICE! =)

after that, a heating pad will increase blood flow to "disperse" the bruise a little faster. i have this green tea lotion that i swear by-- i think it works like the heat in helping the blood flow.

there's also this lotion by j/a/s/o/n called "vitamin k creme plus" that i used every day when i went to la to prevent/ heal my bottomal regions. your best bet for finding this one is online unless you have a decent health foods store with reasonable prices.

another biggie is taking your vitamins, especially iron. mmm, chicken and spinach.

oh, and i also heard that if you want your bruises to disappear, the only way you can do it is by eating lots of green beans.

Does it or doesn't it... I don't think there will ever be a definitive answer, because everyone seems to react differently. Some people swear by arnica -- I have tried it a few times, and it has never done a thing for me. And while my butt seems impervious to marking these days, the rest of me bruises if you breathe too hard on me.

There was a masseuse who used to come to the Shadow Lane parties -- he gave very welcome massages to the spanked bums! I remember I had an older bruise on my thigh, one that didn't hurt anymore but still looked nasty, and he gave it some deep massage. The next day, it was gone. Maybe get your sweetie to massage the bruises?

I don't use the creams or gels as I've never found them particularly beneficial.

The pills are quite good, but only certain brands, and 30c strength in my experience (as opposed to 6c, which seems to be the other strength).

I just ordered some more the other day as two people have run off with mine this year for their severe facial bruising. I can only find the brand I like (Weleda) online, which is a bit of a pain, if you'll excuse the pun... x

I don't know about what do to with bruises except to hasten their coming out. At school after canings boys would sit on the radiator and let the heat draw out the bruise. Witch Hazel is an often quoted remedy but I cannot vouch for it.

I certainly recommend however, finding some foam padding and tying it in place over the corners of the bed - at least until you have remembered the new dimensions of the space (and furniture) you now have.
