Well, I may be home, but my bag is not. My red rolling suitcase with beloved cherry tag never made it to Newark Airport and even though it has been over 24 hours since I landed, the airline has yet to be able to figure out where it is.
I was far from the only one on my flight to be left empty handed at the baggage carousel and yet there was a ton of luggage spinning around that didn’t seem to belong to anyone on that flight.
Trying to get an update or additional information from US Airways has not been easy. I spent hours calling their baggage services office alternately getting a busy signal or an endlessly ringing line. Only once did someone pick up … only to have them hang up on me immediately without so much as a hello.
Since it has been over 24 hours I could call the national baggage call center and after a half hour wait on hold I finally spoke to a representative who told me there was no information on where my bag was, but that it most likely got left behind at my connecting flight location in Charlotte, but there was no way to confirm.
I’m very upset and keep going over all of the things I had in my bag – 6 school uniforms, my cherry print dress, a ton of shoes, all of my makeup, my bikini, my favorite blue shorts, my comfiest jeans, several outfits and panties I never even had the chance to wear once, and lots more. When you travel, it’s not as if you generally bring items you don’t care about especially when you’re off to do a shoot. You bring ones that are your favorites and that you most enjoy wearing or using.
It may seem trivial, but I just desperately want my belongings back and I feel rather sick at the thought that it may be gone for good.

Oh my goodness Pixie, I’m so sorry sweetie!
I can only imagine your sadness at losing all those treasured things and items.
But hey, I want to ask you, when you say Charlotte, do you mean Charlotte NC?
Because if so, I live about– Oh I’d say a good ten minutes from there, so if there is any way I could maybe manage to find out anything about your luggage or what have you, I’m ready and willing to be of service if you see fit to using me.
But hopefully they will find your bag and all will be well with the world once again, because a sad Pixie just won’t do.
Take care.

Thank you very much Brea. That’s very sweet of you.
Yes, it is Charlotte, NC. I keep checking to see if they have any updates. Thank you for your offer to help!!

Oh it’s no trouble! It’s just when I read “Charlotte” I went, huh, that’s gotta be me, lol.
Sad to think your beloved is stuck down here in transit.
But you continue to do that, I am sure they’ll find it.
But if you ever want me to, say in the next few days and they still haven’t found it, let me know, and I can always call down there, asking about my ‘friend’s’ bag.
I wish you all the luck in the world in getting it back.
Have a great weekend.

Understandable to be upset, sweetie. I usually try to pack everything in one case that I can carry on with me. It’s a little lousy sometimes when they open the case and ask what all the wood and leather is for, but at least I always know where it is. I do hope yours gets found soon. If there are specific items that really meant something to you, maybe we can help you replace them. It’s not like any man would ever object to buying you new panties or schoolgirl skirts, etc.

Dear Pixie,
Geez. How hard is it for US Airways to look for the bag with the cutest cherry luggage tag?
(I am thinking they will get it back to you shortly/I would try to not stress about it too much; if needed, you can file an insurance claim of course.)

It doesn’t sound at all trivial. Sounds like it really sucks. Anyone would be upset. Do hope they can find it. There is still hope!

Dear Pixie,
It doesn’t sound trivial at all. Not knowing the whereabouts of all the wonderful stuff in your luggage has to be a terrible feeling–whether it’s favorite things or clothes you haven’t even worn yet.
I say to heck with the union and spank the baggage handlers….
Here’s hoping the bag turns up soon and all of your things are intact!
Hugs,
Dr. Ken

Hi Pixie,
It has been quite a while since I worked in the travel trade. In my days you had to complete a PIR (Property Irregularity Report) when luggage went missing. Went it was NOT found within 24 hours, you got $ 250 from the airline to compensate for initial costs (underwear, make up, toothpaste, etc).
When it was not found at all you got a lump sum compensation of about $ 2,500
Please read the small print on your ticket carefully as those rules are there. The airline knows this as well.
Even with money retrieved it is a nuisance to see your luggage gone
But $ 2,500 buys a lot of schoolgirl costumes…
Wish you success! Love and XXX, Funbun

Brea – David Pierson made a call to Charlotte and got them to start actively looking rather than just waiting for the bag to show up on its own. It must have worked because it is here now! Yay!
007 – I usually try to pack only a carry on too but with all of the stuff I was toting, I never would have fit it all in my mini-suitcase.
Lefty – thanks. No more pain now.
Dave – The bag and the tag are back!
Todd & Suzy – it may have taken a little longer than the 24 hours they quoted, but it all worked out.
Dr. Ken – Spank the baggage handlers. I like that idea. And if that becomes the new policy, I’d like to join the the company.
Funbun – well, it took about 56 hours to get to me and I did go out and replace all of my toiletries, but I’m not worried about being compensated for the delay now that I have my belongings. I thought losing my bag for good would mean they would toss $50 and maybe 100 frequent flyer miles my way or something, I didn’t realize they would truly reimburse you for the missing items. That would have been one heck of a claim form … 6 complete school uniforms, 1 pair mary janes, 1 pair white gogo boots, 15 pair pretty panties …
